Do you remember back when forged beds were common? A long time ago wrought iron was used to make beds. It was hammered and forged into the shapes that make old iron beds stand apart from the ones that you will find today. The iron beds that you will find in today’s time are most likely made from cast iron and will have a different look from one that has been forged. If you have found a forged iron bed and want to know if it is truly forged or if it is made from cast iron there are a few things that you can do.
The first thing that you will want to do is find a piece of iron that has truly been forged. When you find a piece you will be able to compare the two different types of iron with each other to find out if you have found an authentic forged iron bed.

Another sign that you will want to look for is a crease in the iron that the bed is made from. You will be able to find a crease where the mold for the iron is separated on a cast iron bed. If a bed is made from a cast then you will be able to find the creases easily.

If you are purchasing the bed from someone who has a few of them available then chances are they may have sold one to someone before. Ask if the person who is selling the bed has references that you can contact to find out if the work is authentic and to find out what their experience was with the seller. If the person you call is willing to let you examine the bed then you may want to check it out to see if it is authentic.

There are several ways that you will be able to tell if the forged beds that you are interested in purchasing are really forged or not. If you are going to be spending a lot of money on a handmade bed you will want to make sure that you are getting the real one of a kind artwork and not a cast that is used to produce other beds just like it.
