Are you interested in buying a black glass table?  Here are some things you should consider:

Black glass tables, although they are often actually very dark gray, show more dust than a clear glass table.  They also show fingerprints on the top of the table as badly as clear glass tables.  Only the fingerprints on the underside are less obvious.  If you have children who play under the coffee table or side tables and leave fingerprints, then a black glass table might be an improvement over clear glass.  However, if you have children, you might want to reconsider the whole glass table idea altogether.  Glass tables are better suited to households where rambunctiousness and running in the house are not daily occurrences.

A black glass dining table is a truly elegant piece of furniture.  Using your best linen place mats, china and silverware, the black glass will reflect the sparkles from the glassware and silver.  Using cut glass serving pieces and candlesticks will enhance the beauty of the table-scape.  All is beautiful and elegant.  But when the guests go home, not only do you have the usual dishes to do, you will also need to clean the table with a gentle glass cleaner, and probably both top and bottom of the glass.   By the way, you also had to clean the top of the table before you started setting it, because black glass shows dust like nobody’s business.  So, the black glass dining table is a trade-off between cleaning and a dazzling setting for dinner parties.

One more hint: if you are still thinking about a black glass table: ever have black glass fronts on the appliances in the kitchen?  Remember how much fun cleaning them was, with a non-abrasive cleaner?  Well, the problems with cleaning for a black glass table will be less intense, as there is not dried on food, well, not as much dried on food, but you get the message.

Still want black glass tables? Then go for it, but don’t say I did not warn you.  There are better uses for black glass.
