Ceilings Top Off a Room and Can Add Style

Published by at 12:21 am under Decorating

When considering undergoing a remodel in your home, or stylish design in a new home, ceilings are often overlooked.  After all, it is just the cap of the room.  But there are many options available to the average homeowner beside the regular finished drywall ceiling and can really add a lot to a space.

You can take a room from ordinary to spectacular by changing out the regular ceiling with ceiling panels or planks. (Editors Note: It may sound odd, but even the “old school” look of a  popcorn ceiling has a certain appeal to some homeowners) As far as ceiling panels are concerned, there is so much more out there than just the drop ceilings we associate with businesses or the office.  There are beautiful stamped metal panels, and custom wood carved panels as well.  You can even select one or a few for beautiful accents on an existing ceiling. We all know how nice hardwood flooring looks, especially to prospective buyers: ceiling planks can look just as exquisite, and give a room clean, open flow.  Before upgrading a ceiling, one should be sure to make sure there are no problems with the existing ceiling, and be sure the lighting is located where it will best illuminate the finished room.

Go beyond the stained, worn out celings of the past and do some research in the specialty ceilings to give your rooms a modern or traditional look. In either case, with the plethora of choices online, your room will look extraordinary.  As a side note, one special consideration to remember in your search is that many modern light and fan manufacturers make specialty products for integrating a seamless look into your ceiling. One such example is a bathroom fan that my neighbor has that can hardly be noticed because the cover of the fan is made to blend in with the stamped metal plates also found on the ceiling. Turning to the internet will bring up many great products and also helpful tips  for removing old ceiling finishing to kick start your project .  Whatever you decide, make sure you remember how important your ceiling really can be.
