Cheap Flooring for Bathrooms

Published by at 2:10 pm under Uncategorized

The main problem with bathroom floors is that they invariably get wet. There is no getting away from it. So, even though it would be nice to have a soft surface under your bare feet, carpet of any kind is not a great idea. Nor is something like a hardwood floor which would get damaged by water. Hardwood floors are good for wiping with a damp cloth but not for an overrun of water from a shower or bath or even for standing dripping water onto.

The other thing about a bathroom floor, of course, is that it needs to be easily kept clean especially around the toilet area and carpet is the least hygienic of all the flooring you could possibly choose in this respect. Any mom with little boys would tell you never to install carpet in your bathroom!

The types of flooring which go well in bathrooms are mainly tiles. You could also install laminate if you know that it is good quality and moisture resistant but you are still probably better off choosing tiles because laminate can get damaged if it gets very wet.

The best tiles for a bathroom are those made of natural stone like marble (marble mosaic tiles are great in a bathroom) and also travertine tile.

If you don’t have a tidy sum to spend however then there is no point looking at natural stone floors but there is definitely a cheaper effective option for you. If you need cheap flooring for your bathroom consider installing quality vinyl. This this will give you a water resistant floor which is easily wiped clean. It also has a couple of advantages over natural stone flooring. It is more comfortable as it is warmer underfoot and adds a bit of cushioning to the floor if you choose quality vinyl. It is also available in many more designs so you are bound to find something which suits your bathroom.
