A table lamp can be as plain or as eclectic as your imagination and taste will allow such is the range available to those who are prepared to look. They may be used as task lighting, general room lighting or as an accent light to set the mood of the room.

Here are just a few different styles that may appeal to your taste.

One of the favorite styles that have been around since the early half of the table lamp20th century is the Tiffany lamp. Tiffany lamps feature stained glass lamp shades that become even more striking when the lamp is lit. A feature that many find appealing is that every Tiffany lamp is unique.

Far less striking but just as attractive are teak table lamps. Lamps made from teak refer to the lamp base and the smooth clean lines that feature the beauty of the wood itself. It is a look that appeals to people because of the naturalness of the wood.

Another striking type of table lamp that complements any room, particularly when used in pairs is the torchiere lamp. Torchiere table lamps throw light upwards so as to lighten the room with indirect light that is usually reflected off the ceiling or walls. They are highly decorative and when placed on a sideboard or buffet they can create stylish end pieces.

Similar types of lamps can be used singly set around the room to provide splashes of light in various parts of the room. The occasional antique brass table lamp will help to set the tone of a more traditional room, perhaps with a matching floor lamp set off to the side to complete the picture.

More and more we are seeing that table lamps and floor lamps are just as important as decorative pieces as they are as sources of illumination. Fortunately the lamps are available in a tremendous range of styles and materials so they will complement or accent the room no matter what your preferred style may be.
