Choosing A Shed For Storage Purposes
Storage solutions come in a variety of forms. Indoors, we often put our belongings in dressers or cabinets. Outdoors, a more substantial and durable solution is needed. When storing items outdoors, you need a sturdy storage unit to protect your stuff from the weather. Sheds are the most commonly used large storage solution around people’s homes. Outdoor sheds are designed to provide a protected space that can stand against wind, rain and snow. Several different materials make up sheds, including steel and plastic. Choosing a type depends on personal preference and the applications.
Plastic sheds like ones made by Rubbermaid are durable and easy to set up. Plastic may be preferred over steel because of its lightweight nature and l
ower cost. Plastic sheds most often come in smaller sizes like ones designed for yard tools. Horizontal floor units are used to store things like fertilizer, pool toys, and garden tools. Vertical orientations can accommodate longer hand tools like shovels and string trimmers. Large walk-in plastic sheds are also available which can be used for box storage, small workstations and lawnmower storage. However, these walk in sizes generally do not reach the large capacities of steel sheds.
Steel shedding is shipped in large boxes and must be assembled on site. Because it is so heavy, a proper foundation must be laid before building it. The foundation is simply a wooden or concrete platform that keeps the shed several inches off the ground and prevents it from sinking or leaning. Assembly is relatively easy for individuals who have mild technical expertise. Two people are recommended to safely handle the large panels. Sizes range from small walk-ins to massive units which can accommodate a full workshop. The panels are bolted together with industrial anodized nuts and bolts. These sheds will last may years if cared for properly. You can find garden sheds for sale at your local home improvement store.
