Family Bike Storage
Bikes are difficult items to store and if you have a family the problem of storing multiple bicycles is much greater. You could have a number of bikes that are different sizes and different styles which makes storing them particularly problematic.
There are three main types of bike storage available; these are wall mounted, ceiling mounted and a bike shed. For family bicycle storage the bike shed offers the most flexible type of storage. Not only can you get any size and style bike in there, you can also store your cycling tools and kit alongside your bikes so you don’t have to have it littering the house or garage.
Not everyone has got the outside room for a specific shed to store bikes, but
there are other alternatives that are discussed in the previous paragraph. If you’ve got a garage then you could always look at wall mounted bike storage solutions. Some of these come with the prongs a fixed width apart which makes it very difficult to store children’s bikes or ladies bikes, but there are wall mounts that comprise of individual brackets. If you manage to find wall brackets that come with individual parts then you can simply measure the frame of bicycle and put the brackets on the wall at the required width. Of course having three or more bikes takes quite a lot of room, but if you put them above five feet high they will be out of the way. This will give you more floor space and still allow you to get your car into the garage.
An alternative to wall mounted storage is ceiling mounted bicycle storage and this is ideal if you’ve already used up all of the wall space in your garage. Hanging your bike from ceiling really does keep it out of the way giving you more room in your garage. Like individual wall brackets, ceiling mounted systems are suitable for different sized bicycles – as long as they have a saddle and handlebars you can use them.
