Home Improvement Projects You Can Do Over A Weekend

Published by at 6:35 am under Uncategorized

A weekend is long enough to do more home improvement than you ever thought possible. In fact most repair or improvement jobs can be completed quite easily in a couple days and even easier over a long weekend. Unless you are living in a mansion you can easily scrape the popcorn off your ceiling, stain the concrete patio out back, or apply new epoxy paint to your garage floor.

Let’s say you want to work on your outdated popcorn ceiling. On Friday night after you get home from work all you have to do is prep the house for hard labor in the morning come Saturday. Move all the furniture you can into the middle of the room and drape sheets over the top of them. Lay plastic down on the floor and tape it to the edges of the walls and then sleep easy knowing that all you have to do in the morning is step out of bed, spray the ceiling down with water and start scraping away.

home improvement bookYou can easily move from room to room throughout your house all day on Saturday and get the entire ceiling scraped and sanded and prepped for painting and finishing on Sunday. The painting process shouldn’t take long at all and it really shouldn’t take more than a couple hours for it to dry. By Sunday night you can be pushing all your ottoman tray and other furniture back to where it belongs and be proud that you got the job done yourself.

Similarly other home improvement jobs around the house can also be done with just as much ease. Staining a concrete floor is just a matter of power-washing and applying the concrete stain as instructed. Wait the allotted time for drying and you floor has been upgraded. Do you want a raised flower bed in the back yard? Head over to your home and garden store and pick up some bricks or decorative concrete blocks and a few bags of top soil. Simply build up a little retaining wall and back-fill with soil and your landscaping will suddenly be improved.

The point is there are so many small home improvement projects that can be done by a complete novice in as little as a few hours or a couple days that all you have to do is get a little creative. Don’t be afraid of getting your hands dirty and always remember that your home improvement store is always full of professionals that can answer specific questions if you get tripped up in your work.
