In an industrial kitchen or restaurant you will quite commonly see an island range hood. They are, however, becoming increasingly popular in the domestic kitchen. An island hood can transform the look of your kitchen especially if you have an island style arrangement already. By allowing the air to flow through the kitchen it will also improve the air quality quite considerably.

Preventing and removing circulating odors is one of the most common reasons that many people install an island hood. They remove the odorous fumes efficiently and stop them circulating around the kitchen and rest of the home. This is important for foods such as fish which can create strong smells. A hood installed in the center of a room will suck up air from all corners.

The cooking of food and, especially, the burning of oils releases gases and particulate matter into the air which we eventually breathe in. If you suffers with chest problems such as asthma this can cause a problem, but if not, they can still irritate the chest, nose and eyes. Island range hoods are effective at removing these gases and particles leaving healthier clean air in the kitchen, making it a healthier and more pleasant place to be in.

These hoods are also an impressive and stylish addition to the kitchen that will often add value to the home. They will also keep the kitchen looking a lot cleaner and more pristine because they will remove all the grease particles from the air which have a tendency to settle on the surfaces.

The venting of the appliance will need to be considered. There is a choice between a vented or non-vented, ventless type. The non vented models take the kitchen air and pass it through filters. The clean air is then re-circulated back into the kitchen. With a vented model, the installation is a bit more involved as pipework will need to be installed to take the removed air and pass it through to an opening in an external wall.

If your kitchen, at home, has an island and you are looking to improve the look of the room, then an island hood could be a very good investment. It will also keep your kitchen looking cleaner and benefit your health in the long run.
