How to Decorate with Kitchen Blinds

Kitchen blinds are a very functional window treatment. They can match the blinds in the rest of your house or you might just want to go with a different option in your kitchen just for practical reasons. Drapes and curtains can retain a lot of odors and the kitchen windows are usually pretty small so you really don’t want to overwhelm the space. Kitchen blinds give you the opportunity to really customize the look to get something that works with your design style and also your lifestyle. Here are a few tips for decorating with these kinds of interior accessories and home style ideas.

Consider a Roman blind. This is a pull-up fabric shade. It’s very tailored to fit kitchen blindsthe exact size of your window so you won’t  have to worry about long yards of fabric. This adds a softer feel and it’s a little bit more high end then your traditional metal blinds. It gives you the opportunity to bring in a pattern and color. This is important because usually kitchens should be pretty neutral in the interior design world just so they have versatility later on.  Another name for this type of window coverings is magic blinds.  What makes them magic is their ability to move up to the top of the window when you pull the string.  However, just bringing in a few fabric accessories can really soften up the space and also just create an entire theme on its own.

Another option for kitchen blinds would be to go with a natural grass, fiber or bamboo. This can have a tropical feel but at the same time it can match your white cabinets. These blinds are quite inexpensive. They are probably even cheaper than metal blinds in most areas of the country. It does add a little bit of texture to your space. The only downside to this is that you really won’t get as much privacy and light blockage as you might like. It’s important to consider energy efficiency when picking out your window treatments.
