Look For the Functional Benefits of Stair Runners

Published by at 11:25 am under Uncategorized

One of the main ways in which the carpets on stairs are preserved is by placing stair runner rugs over the top of them. This is just as true for stairs that are bare of any other covering and merely consist of boards or cement.

Stair runners will not only provide protection for the floor underneath but stair runner rugwill also give the stairs some added color that may help to create an extra feature. You will still get a hint of the stair materials that are lying beneath the runners because they only cover the middle portion of the stairs with either end laid bare.

The added difficulty in installing stair runner rugs over the installation of normal, flat surface carpets is the fact that you are dealing with having to install it on angles. For the most part stair runners don’t necessarily have to be attached to the floor in a permanent fashion. Instead they can be held down by placing stair rods across each stair tread. These rods will weigh the rug down and keep it snug into the crease of the stair.

There is an added bonus to using stair rods and that is their decorative qualities. Some of these rods have ornate ends to create an appearance that is appealing to the eye while they perform their functional job.

Because stair lengths come in different sizes so do stair runner rugs. There should virtually be a length available to cover even the longest stairs with some runner rugs measuring as long as 100 feet. Because the stairs in the house are only ever going to reach one flight there is little chance that there will be a set of stairs that are so long there will be no runner rug that will be long enough.

The stair runner rug you choose may provide a contrasting detail to the stairwell and the underlying floor or you may prefer the runner be as innocuous as possible. Either way the runner will be performing a valuable task in preserving the floor of the stairs from undue damage.
