Patio Cushions : Don’t Go Too Cheap
It is important not to compromise on quality even if you have a limited budget when buying anything and patio cushions are no exception. Of course, you can only buy the best you can afford but do make sure that you are, at least, getting good value for money.
If you have very few funds it may be worth making do with a few ordinary indoor cushions or pillows this year (and just taking them inside with you after use) so that you can save up for something which is worth buying next.
The fact is if you go too cheap with patio cushions then your cushions are likely to last only a couple of seasons anyway and before you know it you’ll be shopping (and spending again). It’s just not worth compromising by spending too little on your cushions, unless you have the idea that you’d like to change them every year!
Here is why cheap patio cushions are not a good investment:-
1. The Fabric
Quality cushions are covered in thick sturdy fabric which is both water proof and fade resistant. The cheaper variety may be be waterproof, at best, but instead of feeling like standard soft fabric they will feel waterproof and be uncomfortable to sit on for any length of time. And if they are not waterproof, before you know it the fabric will be faded and worn instead.
2. The Filling
If you want thick patio cushions (where you do not feel the hardness of the chair) and ones which spring back into shape when you get up, you will need to pay a little more. Cheaper cushions have thin non-springy padding.
3. The Construction
Quality cushions have reinforced ties, zips and seams. Cheap cushions come apart with regular use.
4. The Design
Although some low cost cushions come in nice designs, many tend to be garish and bright. This is not in itself a problem but when the fabric fades in the sun, so will the wonderful color of your cushions.
