Picking an Antique Chandelier Over a Modern Model

Published by at 10:28 pm under Decorating

Picking the right lighting and fixtures for your home can be quite the job, especially with today’s modern choices.  New styles and designs coming out daily confuse and overwhelm most people.  Sometimes you think back to elegance and the olden days when things were made for quality and beauty and not cheaply made and quickly out of fashion.  That is when you will find that an antique chandelier will be just what you need.
A Chandelier can be the focal point of any room and set the theme for the antique chandeliermood of the atmosphere.  Antique styles will give the appearance of quality, elegance and class.  Chandeliers of the past were commonly found in large homes of prestige, and wealth, and with today’s affordability, you could get that same style for less money.  If you are transforming a plain or contemporary room into a historical feel and setting by giving it that antique look, focusing on the lighting is a great start.  You may want to get a dimmer switch to portray the dim lighting found in the homes of old.
When shopping around for that perfect antique chandelier, do not overlook the size of the room you are working with.  You’ll want to consider a larger lighting for a larger room, and might want to keep in mind a mini fixture if you are working with a smaller area, such as a reading room, hall, bathroom, or office space.  Most of your antique looks will have more facets and display the splendor of the crystals often found in these pieces.  Just because you are seeking a specific style does not mean that your choices will be limited.  There is a huge selection for you to choose from so be creative.
Regardless of what style you choose, you will without a doubt, love and enjoy the investment that you placed into choosing the precise fixture to match your style. There is nothing that will satisfy your taste for elegance and class like a true antique.
