Protect Yourself With A Motion Detector Alarm
Give yourself instant security with the installation of a motion detector alarm. These alarms vary in price from around $20.00 (for models such as the Sensor Guard Motion Alert) to more top of the line models around $150.00 (like the Voice Alert System 6).
Motion detector alarms work on the properties of infrared beams of light. The human eye cannot see them, but the motion detector alarms do detect them. When the field of infrared light is broken, it signal to the motion detector that there is an intruded, and the alarm goes off. The higher quality models, such as the Voice Alert System 6, allow prerecorded messages to play. That particular model allows up to six prerecorded messages to play when the alarm goes off, and they can be customized to specific zones.
If you wanted to use it more for general safety as compared to intruder warnings, you could preset the motion detectors to fit that need. For
example, if you place one near the driveway, it could be preset to say, “Car coming up the driveway.” You could also place one by the pool to alert you if your child was too close to the edge. The less expensive models offer great features as well. The Streetwise Motion Alarm ($48.99) can be configured to produce either a loud, 125-decibel alarm or a silent alarm. It can be programmed with a prerecorded message up to six seconds long as well as be programmed to call three numbers, perhaps your neighbor, parents, and the police. Once the call has been made, that six-second message can be played, saying something like “This is John Doe, there is an intruder in my home.” For much less than those very expensive security systems, a motion detector alarm can give you and your family complete security and spare nothing in the way of safety. Of course, you also want to get yourself a good money safe in the event that intruders actually do get past your alarm and enter your home.
