Real Wood or Faux Wood Blinds?
There are several different variations of blinds that one can use to cover the windows in their home. Options include venetian Blinds, as well as aluminum, PVC or plastic, wood and faux wood. The choices do not stop there, as you may also choose to cover your windows with shades or even curtains. For many, the look of wooden blinds is what tops the list for beauty and elegance. However, wood blinds do not come cheap, and when covering multiple windows, the expense can really place a dent in the budget. This is when many select a faux cheap wood blind instead.
Although faux, meaning not made of real wood, the blinds can still give a warm and intimate feeling to any room, just as wooden sets will do. They are made of a strong and durable PVC material. You can choose faux sets that have wood grain made into each slat, so that up close even the most detailed inspection would not show that they are not true wood. The obvious and main difference is going to be the coloring. Wood blinds do not only come in natural wood colors, but can also be painted. These are often available through special order through any local home improvement store. Whereas faux blinds are generally painted, and hard to find in wood color that actually looks natural.
So as you can see, there is no obvious advantage to pay the excessive costs for buying real wood blinds, when faux cheap wooden blinds will serve the exact same purpose and look excellent in your home. It really comes down to preference. One thing that can be received from real wooden sets is the fact that you can purchase sets in the rich wood look that is so desirable. Each homeowner has to decide if the additional cost is worth the look you will obtain.
