Some People Have Problems Installing Designer Kitchen Taps
People sometimes have problems installing designer kitchen taps, and need a little boost to get them through the project; here are a few tips for you to guide you. If you have found yourself with leaks, or unable to remove the assembly properly, this step by step instruction should help you a lot.
First, you’re going to need to get under the cabinetry and locate where the
water is coming in, in order to turn it off. The valves are oval shaped, and there is usually two under most cabinets. Turning off the incoming water is typically as easy as rotating the handles counter clock wise. Turn the kitchen sink on to double check, and make sure that the water has been shut off. Running water means that you haven’t turned the valves the right direction.
Your current tap assembly will be held in place by two long studs that have nuts attached to them. Turning these nuts in the same direction, counter clock wise, should loosen them. Once you have these nuts removed, you can usually lift the tap unit out of it’s place. Avoid damaging anything if the tap doesn’t budge, but be prepared to use some energy to get it out.
The new kitchen tap assembly you’ve purchased should have an extra kit with parts in it. Adding these seals and washers to the unit before you reinstall it protects your cabinetry from leaks and mold buildup. Taking a quick look at the instructions that came with your new assembly, you can determine where to install the new seals.
Remembering how your old taps kitchen was installed, you’re going to want to place your new assembly back onto the sink in the same position. Once you’ve placed the new assembly back onto the sink and tightened down the nuts, you can now replace the plumbing lines. Check around the nuts and bolts, as well as the seals for leaks and snug them down as necessary.
