Surviving a Plumbing Disaster
You wake up and step out of bed only to notice that your carpet is soaked. Your first thoughts are “what the…..”. As you walk or more accurately slosh your way to the bathroom you realize that your toilet has been running and has overflowed spilling water all over the bathroom and soaking half of the carpet in your bedroom. Shocked, but still half asleep you reach for the water valve to shut off the water to the toilet. After several clockwise turns the water stops running and you are now confronted with the task of somehow drying up all of this water before it starts to mildew and stink up your room. Not only do you have to deal with the water but you now don’t have a functioning toilet and needless to say this is going to pose a big problem at some point. Never mind the fact that you are late for work for the second time this week. Clearly, not the ideal start to any day. How can you survive a disaster like this? Here are a few simple tips that can help salvage your day.
1. Contact a local plumber. Hopefully your computer hasn’t been affected by the deluge of water that soaked your carpet and you are able to look up a few local plumbers to help find a solution to this disaster. Check out review sites like Atlanta Plumbers Online to find independent reviews of local plumbing companies so you can hire the right plumber up front. The plumber should be able to get to your home with in a few short hours and many companies have special equipment that can help extract the majority of water from your carpet. Getting the right plumber can help turn around that disastrous morning in no time.
2. Call your employer. Being late twice a week isn’t going to get you any promotions but most employers understand that emergencies do come up and will help accommodate the situation. Be apologetic and explain the situation thoroughly. This will help get you some additional sympathy and might even turn into a couple days off.
Following those simple tips can help you survive any plumbing disaster, big or small.
