What you need to paint your garage floor
Improve the look of your garage floor with minimal effort on your part.
In preparation to the painting sweep away any loose debris from the floor. If there are oil stains or any marks on the concrete, utilize a degreaser and or bleach to remove them. Rinse the floor well and remove all chemicals. Make sure the garage door is open and completely remove any standing water with a broom.
When selecting garage floor paint choose a color that you will enjoy for many years. To see the true color-test a spot and let it dry before you do the whole floor. Read the label also to ensure the selected product is appropriate for concrete floors. A primer should be put on first and allowed to dry for twenty four hours prior to painting.
A roller on a long handle works well to put the paint on with. Of course you will want to have a drop cloth and rags available as you apply the paint. Keep the garage door open to allow ventilation and the paint to dry more quickly. Select a clear day with no storms forecast to do this job. Obviously you do not want any water or debris to blow in on the paint before it has dried. So the next time you change your oil in the garage and spill some it will wipe up without absorbing into the concrete. Match the paint with the colors of your home for a nice contrast and color to compliment the decor.
Consider your budget, what color you prefer and supplies needed to finish the project before you go shopping. There are many colors of garage floor paint to choose from and be sure to read the labels and follow directions exactly. In some cases you may have to apply two coats of paint to get the desired effect you want. For a small amount of effort, you improve the look and functionality of your home with a nicely painted garage floor.
