This article is written from personal experience not by reading reviews and trawling the Internet for information.  Almost 7 years ago I bought a very expensive leather sofa, now looking back it really was way outside my budget but now I wonder if I just bought a cloth sofa would I still own it now or would it simply have worn out and become stained?

It is durable – In fact, it is exceptionally durable, and this reason is why they make motorbike saddles out of it and leather jackets.  They also make an ottoman tray and ottoman out of it, since it can hold up with people’s feet pushing on it time and again.  It is extremely resistance to abrasion and is more likely that the framework of the sofa will wear out long before the leather does.

Stain resistance – leather is very resistant to staining, so if you have young children, or clumsy pets I would really recommend getting aleather sofa. Things like ketchup and grape juice can easily just be wiped off without fear of it soaking into the fabric of the leather. Even white leather sofas have far better stain resistance than a cloth sofa.

Warmth- although leather is cold to the touch at first, it quickly warms up to body temperature and takes a long time to cool down. So in the winter although it’s a bit startling at first, a leather suite will keep you warm. In the summer a leather sofa is lovely and cooling to sit on – if it is not in the sun…. Remember though that the leather only heats up to your body temperature, so it’s not as though it will be too warm to you to sit on.

Easy to keep clean – similar to its stain resistance qualities, leather is extremely easy to keep clean.  All you need to do is run a damp cloth over it every so often to keep the dust down and take off any marks.  It couldn’t be simpler.

Multitude of styles- leather looks posh if you want it to, but if you prefer a worn look it can also have that battered and vintage finish. Leather can really fit into almost any style of interior that you would like it to.
