Why Vinyl Awnings Are Here to Stay
If you enjoy the patio or porch area of your home, then you really don’t need a reason to be convinced. You are more than aware of the many benefits of such a space. You also know that shading in those areas is what creates that oh so perfect balance between enjoying the outdoor space and being scorched by the sun in those intense summer days. As more and more emphasis is placed on conservation and saving of natural resources, we will realize why those porch awnings are really helpful. You can get the best of what these awnings have to offer in a variety of styles.
The key thing to remember is that a patio awning is also something that you
need to take care of. While the materials and fabrics have improved over the years, if you simply plan on leaving yours exposed year round, you may be disappointed over the long term. This isn’t to say that the newer materials are not wonderful. In fact, the technology that has made vinyl awnings so durable is nothing short of amazing. Whether you are talking about the ways that the color can be embedded during the ‘wet’ stage of production of the vinyl fiber itself or you’re talking about the nature of a retractable patio awning, these advancements have made them much more user friendly.
This brings us to the point about the different types of awnings. There are both fixed or fix-mounted styles and retractable styles. The fixed versions are best represented by those classic-looking spear awnings. Those are the ones that have the spears that support the two end corners of the awning as it extends from your home. The awnings can be draped or concave in nature or more taught in appearance. Then, there are the retractable ones. These come in both manually operated styles and motorized versions. The manual ones have a crank handle that operates the opening and closing mechanism. The motorized versions operate in much the same way but, obviously, don’t require human power. Both styles of these vinyl porch awnings work well.
